Activity types


RealClearContacts manages your customers.  They don't need to be called customers, you can call them Associates, Prospects, or anything else.  Categorize them by creating groups.  Activities can also be categorized as Activity Types.

Step 1 - Go to the Settings Area

Select Settings from the menu to view the main configuration screen

  • The Settings area gives you an overview of your account, and customization options.

Step 2 - Go to Activity Types

Select Activity Types from the Settings Area.

Step 3 - Add or Delete Activity Types

Click Add a new Activity Type to create a new type, or click on the activity type to rename or delete it.

  • You can safely rename an activity type.  All activities that had the old name, will now carry the new name.
  • If you delete an activity type for which activities have already been assigned, then these activities will then have a type Note.

Step 4 - Use the Activity Types

From the Edit Activity screen, the Type drop-down field will now have all activity types that have been created.

  • It isn't necessary to select one of the activity types.  If you're not sure, simply select Note.

Step 5 - Go to Group Types

Select Group Types from the Settings Area.

Step 6 - Add or Delete Groups

Click Add a new Group to create a new customer category, or click on the Details button to rename or delete an existing group.

  • You can safely rename a Group.  All customers of the old group will carry over the new group name.
  • If you delete an existing group to which customers have already been assigned, these customers will then simply not be categorized (they're group will be none).

Step 7 - Use the Group

From the Edit Customer screen, the Group drop-down field will now have all Groups that have been created

  • It isn't necessary to select any of the Groups.
